Originally named Gaixian Cashmere Goats, Liaoning Cashmere Goats are a precious goat breed endemic to Liaoning Province. Their cashmere output quality rivals the world-famous Pletten goat, earning them the reputation of China’s "national treasure". They are mainly raised in Liaoning’s Gaixian, Fuxian, Xiuyan and Zhuanghe counties.
Cashmere goats are robust and highly adaptable, relying mainly on year-round grazing. They typically breed lambs in spring: mating takes place before Minor Snow, and lambs are born around Grain Rain the following year when pelage flourishes. Cashmere grows primarily during cold winters. Composed of keratin, cashmere is an extremely valuable textile raw material. Garments made from cashmere are lightweight, exquisite, brightly colored, warm, durable and elastic, enjoying huge popularity in markets.
