Located in the residual mountain range of Changbai Mountain, Fushun, Liaoning Province, is home to artificially cultivated under-forest ginseng that bears a striking resemblance to wild ginseng — the distinctive Fushun Under-forest Ginseng.
Announcement No. 109 issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in 2010 officially granted national geographical indication product protection to Fushun Under-forest Ginseng. Its protected producing areas cover the entire administrative regions of Xinbin Manchu Autonomous County and Qingyuan Manchu Autonomous County in Fushun City, plus five townships in Fushun County: Majuanzi Township, Hou’an Town, Tangtu Township, Shangma Township and Jiubing Township.
