Leisurely Xiaoqinhuai River Cycling Route

• Length: 2.5 kilometers
• Difficulty: Suitable for leisure, sightseeing, and walking; no difficulty.
• Road Conditions: Paved road, 2 meters wide. Few pedestrians, safe. Keep speed below 15 km/h. The route crosses several bridge abutments; some require carrying the bike.
• • Route Highlights: The only remaining ancient river in the old city. The riverside streets were the most prosperous in Qing-dynasty Yangzhou, offering a taste of traditional local life.

  Major Attractions Along the Route

  • Imperial Wharf: During Emperor Qianlong’s southern tours, Yangzhou salt merchants built a palace here. The emperor boarded boats for Slender West Lake cruises; now the starting point for water tours.
  • Lüyang Hotel: A century-old hotel named after the famous line “Green willow walls define Yangzhou.” Historical figures including Chiang Kai-shek, Kong Xiangxi, Chen Yi, Deng Yingchao, Yu Dafu, and Mei Lanfang once stayed here.
