A famous Leizhou historic site, Sanyuan Pagoda was built during the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty. During construction, three snake eggs were unearthed at the base, considered an auspicious omen of
"Three Top Scholarships" (coming first in the provincial, metropolitan, and palace examinations), hence the name Sanyuan Pagoda.
Facing west, the pagoda is an octagonal brick-and-wood structure, renowned for its intricate overlapping "tooth-like" bricks.
