Liuye Lake Tourist Resort lies on the urban-rural fringe in the northeast of Changde city. It is backed by the Sun Mountain to the north and faces the Yuanjiang River to the south, combining urban vitality with breathtaking landscapes. Designated as a provincial tourist resort in 1994, it covers a total planned area of 16.93 square kilometers.

Adjacent to Dongting Lake in the east and Wuling Mountain in the west, it is within easy reach of the world-famous Wulingyuan Scenic Area, the Peach Blossom Spring and Huayan Stream. It also serves as an intersection of major tourist routes connecting Changsha, Nanyue Mountain, Yueyang, Shaoshan and Zhangjiajie.

With clear water, a vast water surface and flat lake bed, Liuye Lake is an ideal natural venue for water sports. Since 1995, it has hosted the canoeing finals of Hunan Provincial 8th Sports Games, the National Canoeing Championship and other major events.
