Taohua Lake originates from Chengqiang Mountain on the southern border of the county, adjacent to Ningxiang City. Its upper reach is called Yangliu Stream. The clear stream flows past willow-lined banks towards Ziliang Rock. Blocked by the towering precipice, the water accumulates and forms Taohua Lake.

Surrounded by rolling green hills, the lake lies within Taohua River Forest Park, home to 40,000 mu of dense woodland. Standing prominently by the lake, Ziliang Rock adds a rugged and imposing touch to the gentle scenery, perfectly combining marvelous mountain views and graceful waterscapes. This dozens-of-zhang-high limestone cliff has been carved into fantastic shapes by wind and rain over millions of years.

An ancient Immortal Gathering Nunnery once stood atop the cliff, said to be the place where Pan Ziliang met and chatted with celestial beings. A deep, perilous crack runs vertically down the middle of the cliff, which is fabled as a trial set by immortals to test people’s sincerity.
