Red Army Hill

A must-visit alongside the conference site, the Red Army Martyrs Cemetery sits on Xiaolong Hill in central Zunyi, facing Honghuagang and Laoya Hill—sites of fierce Red Army battles. It houses the remains of Red Army soldiers found across Zunyi after the founding of the People’s Republic, hence the name "Red Army Hill".
The solemn cemetery features a distinctive monument erected for the 50th anniversary of the Zunyi Conference. Inscribed in gold characters are Deng Xiaoping’s calligraphy: "Eternal Glory to the Red Army Martyrs".
Ascending the stone steps, visitors see lush pines and cypresses surrounding a large red sandstone tomb containing the ashes of Deng Ping, Chief of Staff of the 3rd Red Army Corps. A circular bluestone tomb nearby marks the resting place of a Red Army medic who was killed by reactionaries while treating Zunyi residents.
Ticket: Free admission
Transport: A 20-minute walk from the Zunyi Conference Site, past the former Red Army General Political Department on Yangliu Street.
