One of the two iconic landmarks of Zhongwei, Gao Miao Temple enjoys equal fame with the desert wonders. It is a temple integrating Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. A couplet on its carved stone archway reads: "Here Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism deliver all beings;

Heaven, Earth and Man follow the cycle of creation and transformation." The horizontal scroll bears the inscription: The Supreme Dharma Bridge.

Enshrined inside are not only Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, but also Taoist deities including the Jade Emperor, Holy Mother, God of Literature and Guan Yu. Statues of the three religions stand together in harmony.
