Cangjia Gorge falls under Shoule Town, Ledu District, Haidong City, approximately 20 kilometers from downtown Haidong. Sitting on the southern foot of the Qilian Mountains, it has an altitude between 2,400 meters and 3,200 meters and features an inland semi-arid climate. The annual average temperature is 5.9°C, and the annual precipitation totals 269.4 millimeters.
Wild animals here include deer, musk deer, blue sheep, white-lipped deer, pheasants and snow cocks. A variety of wild medicinal plants grow across the gorge, such as codonopsis, fritillary, poria cocos, astragalus and cordyceps sinensis.
