Xilingol League (shortened as Ximeng) is a league under the jurisdiction of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In Mongolian, "Xilingol" means "river on the plateau".
Location: Central Inner Mongolia. It borders Mongolia to the north with a 1,103-kilometer borderline, Ulanqab to the west, Hebei Province to the south, and Chifeng, Tongliao and Hinggan League to the east. The administrative office of Xilingol League is roughly 460 kilometers straight-line distance from Beijing.
Area: Around 202,600 square kilometers, nearly the size of Hebei Province.
Population: Approximately 1.1125 million by the end of 2024, featuring vast land with sparse population.
Administrative Divisions: Administers 2 cities (Xilinhot and Erenhot), 9 banners, 1 county and 1 management zone. The league seat is Xilinhot City.
Climate: Temperate continental monsoon climate in the middle temperate zone with distinct four seasons and large temperature differences between day and night. July and August offer the most pleasant weather, marking the prime travel season for grasslands.
Ecology: One of China’s best-preserved grassland regions and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It serves as the core area of "China’s Capital of Ecological Sheep" and "China’s Horse Capital"
