Liu Quan Ju Restaurant, set up in 1567, is one of the eight famous restaurants in Beijing. Liu Quan Ju was nestled in a courtyard featuring a willow and a well on Huguosixikou Road at the very beginning. Hence, it gained its name Liu (willow) Quan (well) Ju (Residence). At that time, it was mainly engaged in Huangjiu (yellow rice wine)business. Restaurants mainly sold four types, Shaoxing Wine, Beijing Wine, Shandong Wine and Shanxi Wine and what Liu Quan Ju sold was Beijing yellow rice wine. Liu Quan Ju developed unique Beijing-flavored dishes that integrate the best culinary art in the north and the south and best cater to Beijingers. It has gradually become a distinctive restaurant offering Beijing-style dishes. Smashed bean buns, which are popular among diners.
