Lili Douhua Restaurant is the combination of two old shops in Beijing— Lili Restaurant and Douhua Restaurant. The predecessor of Lili Restaurant was Labor Canteen, which opened on Qianmen Street in 1954. It was one of the three Sichuan restaurants in Beijing at that time. Guo Moruo, a Chinese author, poet, historian, and archaeologist, had a meal in the restaurant, and changed the name of the restaurant to "Lili Restaurant", which comes from Chinese Characters of "Labour".

In 2003, Lili Restaurant was relocated to No. 27 Guangqumenwai Street. Lili Restaurant and Beijing Sichuan Douhua Restaurant consolidated and formed "Lili Douhua Restaurant”. After the reorganization, Lili Douhua Restaurant continued to develop with innovation, and launched River Water Beancurd and other types of beancurd. Its famous dishes like Cry-out Ribs, Quick-boiled Fish with Pickled Vegetables and Chili, and Noodles in Chili Sauce are popular all the time.
