Traffic Overview of Dongxing District
The Tuojiang River and Daqingliu River are navigable all year round. Three bridges span the Tuojiang River, providing direct access to Dongxing. The district boasts an extensive and well-connected road network. The Chengdu-Chongqing, Neijiang-Anju and Neijiang-Wujia highways run through the area. It is also an intersection of the Neijiang-Kunming, Chengdu-Chongqing and Longchang-Luzhou railways, as well as the Chengdu-Chongqing, Neijiang-Yibin and Longchang-Naxi expressways. Known as the "Transport Hub of Central Sichuan", Dongxing serves as a major cargo distribution center in south-central Sichuan.
Chengdu-Chongqing Highway
As Sichuan's first expressway, the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway is a vital road artery linking Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality. It starts at Wuguiqiao in Chengdu and ends at Chenjiaping in Chongqing.
Running across the heart of the Sichuan Basin, it connects three major industrial cities: Chengdu, Neijiang and Chongqing, passing through 14 counties, cities and districts. With a total length of 340 kilometers, it is a fully enclosed, fully grade-separated four-lane highway with a central divider and one-way traffic. Its roadbed width ranges from 21.5 meters to 25 meters, and the designed speed limit is 100 kilometers per hour.
Neijiang-Wujia Highway
The Neijiang-Wujia Highway covers 14 towns including Gaoqiao and Baihe in Dongxing District of Neijiang City, and leads straight to Wujia Town in Rongchang District of Chongqing. It is a major traffic artery of Dongxing District and a key outbound passage of Neijiang City.
Neijiang-Kunming Railway
The Shuifu-Meihuashan section of the Neijiang-Kunming Railway runs upstream along the Hengjiang River after leaving Shuifu Station. It passes through Yanjin and Daguan, crosses mountain ranges at Tianxingchang to reach Zhaotong, and continues via Xianshui and Weining before terminating at Meihuashan Station on the Guiyang-Kunming Railway. This section traverses 10 counties and districts across four prefecture-level cities in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces.
Chengdu-Chongqing Railway
Stretching from Chengdu to Chongqing in Sichuan, the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway is the first trunk railway completed after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It has a total length of 505 kilometers. Construction began in June 1950, the line opened to traffic in June 1952, and was officially put into operation in July 1953.
