Attraction Introduction to Xitang Ancient Town Scenic Area, Jiaxing City

Misty Corridor

The core covered corridor of Xitang, a roofed market street stretching over 1,000 meters long. Most sections stand along the riverside, forming a one-of-a-kind architectural feature among all water towns south of the Yangtze River. Walking under the roof on rainy days, you can listen to pattering rain and admire the misty scenery beyond the corridor, creating an intensely poetic atmosphere.

Shipi Alley

At its narrowest point, the passage only fits one person, earning it the reputation of "Single Thread Sky". Lined with ancient dwellings on both sides, the alley lets visitors soak in the primitive tranquility of the old town.

Huanxiu Bridge

A rustic stone arch bridge built in 1581, the earliest high bridge in Xitang. Running north to south, it offers fantastic photo opportunities at dawn and sunset.

Songzi Laifeng Bridge

First constructed in the Ming Dynasty. Wish plaques hang all along one side of the bridge. It is a perfect spot to capture boats gliding through the archways and take souvenir photos.

West Garden

The largest classical garden within the ancient town, featuring an exquisite layout and gorgeous landscapes. It is an ideal leisure spot and a filming location featured in Jay Chou’s works.

Drunken Garden

Dating back to the Ming Dynasty, it originally served as the side hall of the prominent Wang Clan’s mansion on Tawan Street. The compound consists of four courtyards, housing the Hall of Intoxicating Classics and the Wang Father-and-Son Woodcut Print Museum.

Huguo Sui Liang King Temple

Erected in the Ming Dynasty, commonly known as Master Qi Temple, built in memory of upright official Master Jin Qi.

Ming and Qing Wood Carving Exhibition Hall

The hall displays an extensive collection of exquisite wood carvings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, presenting a grand showcase of wood carving art and carrying forward traditional classical craftsmanship.

Zhang Zheng Root Carving Art Museum

It houses works by renowned root carving artist Zhang Zheng. The pieces boast distinctive shapes and delicate carving skills, with numerous giant root carvings that leave visitors awe-struck.

Eaves Tile Culture Museum

Here visitors can appreciate the beauty of brick and tile art unique to Yangtze Delta water towns and learn about the history and cultural connotations of eaves tiles.

Button Museum

The museum contains six exhibition halls. Visitors can view all kinds of buttons from ancient, modern, Chinese and foreign origins, and even make buttons by hand to experience the charm of button culture and craftsmanship.
