Today marks the day of "Jingzhe", the third of the 24 solar terms in Chinese Lunar Calendar, literally meaning the awakening of insects. In Chinese folklore, the year's first thunder, called "Spring Thunder," is believed to wake the insects. For Chinese, people should take precautions against lightning and possible severe storms ahead as Jingzhe ushers in higher temperatures and bigger day-night temperature differences. As a solar term, the Jingzhe is very important for the busy farming season. Chinese farmers attach great importance to it, viewing it as the start of the busy spring plowing season
