Brief Introduction to Gutian Tourist Area
Gutian Town is located in the northeastern part of Shanghang County, Fujian Province, at the southern foot of Meihua Mountain, where Xinluo District, Shanghang County and Liancheng County converge. Covering an area of 227 square kilometers, the town governs 21 administrative villages, with a total of 4,934 households and a population of 19,594.
In 1991, the town’s total industrial and agricultural output value exceeded 100 million yuan, making it the first "100-Million-Yuan Town" among all old revolutionary base areas nationwide.
For decades, Gutian has remained a focal point of media attention. Party and state leaders including Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao have visited the town for inspection. To mark the 70th anniversary of the Gutian Meeting and the 10th anniversary of General Secretary Jiang’s inscription for the meeting, China Central Television aired the gala performance staged by the CCTV "Heart-to-Heart" Art Troupe in Gutian during prime Spring Festival viewing hours. Its news program Focus Interview also featured a special report titled Early Spring in Gutian, turning Gutian into a nationwide media highlight.
Since 1999, centering on three core priorities: expanding market access, adjusting industrial structure and innovating institutional mechanisms, as well as five major strategies covering market development, regional coordination, innovation, project construction and brand building, the town has leveraged its unique strengths to optimize industrial layout and investment environment. It has strengthened Party building and cultural-ethical progress, emancipated minds and forged ahead with concerted efforts, achieving coordinated development of material and cultural-ethical progress.
By 2002, the town’s total industrial and agricultural output value reached 591.48 million yuan, fiscal revenue hit 11.03 million yuan, and the per capita net income of local farmers stood at 3,597 yuan.
