Chinese culture of liquor and spirits is like a history book of long standing, containing thousands years old ancient culture of China. Looking back, we can see that "liquor and spirits" played important roles in various circles of literature, art, cuisine and even health care in China.
In western countries, wine would be the leading actor of the special culture, while in China it would be liquor and spirits. "Dazhigu Spirits" have been widely renowned since dynasties of Ming and Qing. At present, the representative of Tianjin liquor and spirits making industry is Jinjiu Group, the biggest liquor and spirits making enterprise of Tianjin with over 60 years of developing history.
Hongqiao District, the location of Jinjiu Group, is the birthplace of early commerce of Tianjin that two of the "Three Snacks of Tianjin", Goubuli and Ear-hole Fried Cake also started from Hongqiao District. In the hearts of Tianjin people, "Jinjiu" represents the most authentic Tianjin taste of liquor and spirits. Jinjiu is a brand with many anecdotes and histories behind. So Jinjiu Group built a 2000sq.m "Jinjiu Cultural Park" in the plant area to collect the "history" and open to the public for free.
At the entrance of the cultural park, there is an antique and artistic memorial archway described with four Chinese characters of "Guyun Jiuxiang" (charm of Jingu, fragrance of liquor). Going along the path, we will step into an antique and elegant garden with luxuriant trees and murmuring stream.
Covering an area of 600sq.m, the cultural park contains several parts of exhibition hall, video hall, tasting room, drunk room and park panorama. Watching the promotion video in video hall, we will get a preliminary knowledge of the long history of Jinjiu; in the exhibition hall outside the video hall, tools and vessels of liquor and spirits making are restored and displayed to intuitively show the developing history of Chinese liquor and spirits.
Getting around the display card, we will see the sand table of Guangmao Ju, the earliest well documented liquor and spirits workshop of Tianjin. Tianjin prospered because of water transportation that the canal also offered convenience for liquor and spirits transportation. A cabin full of liquor jars in the park reappears the transportation scene of those years.
Series representative Jinjiu products of different time since 1950s are displayed in the park. Emotion is recalled when we see some "old flavor" brands like Jianiang, Emperor and Zhigu Kaoliang Spirit. Tasting Room is where we can enjoy authentic raw liquor and learn knowledge about liquor and spirits.
"Many tourists bought Jinjiu as gift or souvenir, so we have put a lot of efforts on pack design.", Wang Jianzhong (left), Sales Vice GM of Tianjin Jinjiu Group, said. He also mentioned about how to make Jinjiu a better "brand ambassador" of Tianjin, "Recently, we launched a series of Small Jinjiu (building edition). They are relatively cheap, easy to carry and taste mellow. The most special part is that four representative historical buildings or blocks of Tianjin are painted on the bottles. They are Wanghai Building, Wudadao, Italian Style Town and Tianjin Concert Hall. So that they are perfect to be souvenir."
"Besides, we are planning to cooperate with some famous brands of Tianjin like "18th Street Fried Dough Twist" that tourists can conveniently buy our products in their stores."
Based on 700 years old liquor and spirits making history, Jinjiu Group has been the biggest liquor and spirits making enterprise of Tianjin. It always insists to "make high quality liquor and spirits, be noble people and pursue new targets". Jinjiu Cultural Park, as a national AA tourist attraction and Tianjin industrial tourism demonstration site, also sustains great responsibilities to carry out Tianjin culture.
