Located on the east side of the Summer Palace, Xiyuan Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the first large TCM hospital established by the government after the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Xiyuan is an important royal garden of the Ming Dynasty, named after the location west of the Forbidden City in Beijing. According to the records, there are more than twenty imperial gardens and palaces in the central capital area of the Jin Dynasty, including the Xi Yuan, East Yuan, South Yuan and North Yuan. In the Jin Dynasty, the four gardens were near the Imperial City. Xiyuan (also known as West Garden, or Tongle Garden) is the imperial court by the imperial palace, and is the most important court forest.
Therefore, it can be seen that Xiyuan Hospital has both the spirit of the royal court and the soul of TCM. A special program at this hospital is the Xiyuan Plaster Service Program. Every year, Xiyuan Hospital holds a plaster festival, in which participants can experience non-medicinal therapies and free consultations by plastering experts in the lobby of the first floor of the outpatient building. There are also TCM lantern riddles and folk music performances.
It has been more than 10 years since the Xiyuan Hospital Plaster Health Culture Festival was held, and it has become the characteristic and business card of Xiyuan Hospital.
