In the center of Beijing, there is a royal garden called Beihai Park. Among the many attractions in the park, the Nine Dragon Wall is a popular one. The Nine Dragon Wall is a unique part of ancient Chinese traditional architecture. In ancient times, the Nine Dragon Wall was the embodiment of imperial power. Only imperial and noble families could own it, so it was also the most prestigious. There are three surviving Nine Dragon Walls in China. One is in the Forbidden City, one is in Datong, Shanxi Province, and the third is the one in Beihai Park. It is modeled after the Nine Dragon Wall in front of the Prince Mings Mansion in Datong, Shanxi Province. It is one of the most distinctive royal dragon walls among the three existing nine dragon walls in China, and it is also the only one of the double-sided walls. The Nine Dragon Wall has nine coiled dragons on each side. The top of the wall is glazed tube tile, and the ridge is decorated with yellow glazed flowing clouds and flying dragon pattern. The wall is gorgeous and spectacular.
