With spring approaching, why not have a journey to find the White Pagodas, enjoying spring in the long history and glorious culture of the ancient capital?

01. White Pagoda of Yong'an Temple in Beihai Park

When visiting Beihai Park, the White Pagoda is a must-see attraction. Located in Yong'an Temple on Qionghua Island, the White Pagoda is one of the landmark landscapes in Beijing. Qionghua Island is circular in shape, being low all around and high in the middle. You can overlook the view of Beihai Park on the top. In this royal garden, many halls and pavilions have been built over the ages, offering breathtaking views.

02. White Pagoda of White Pagoda Temple

Miao Ying Temple, commonly known as the White Pagoda Temple, has a long history that dates back to the Liao Dynasty. The present white pagoda in the courtyard was built in 1271, nearly 750 years ago. It is the only complete cultural relic preserved in the Yuan capital city and the oldest and largest Tibetan-style white pagoda in mainland China. The clear blue sky, the peaceful hutongs, and the ethereal dove whistles by the solemn white pagoda are the best memories of old Beijing for many people. When you are tired of strolling, you can walk into a cafe and take a photo with the White Pagoda Temple while drinking coffee on the rooftop, which is really relaxing.

03. Jialing Monk Tower of Dajue Temple

In the backyard of Dajue Temple, the monk Jialing is buried under the Jialing Monk Pagoda. He was once appreciated by the Yongzheng Emperor and the Qianlong Emperor. He preached the Dharma in the temple and his influence spread to the monasteries around the country. After his death, he was buried at the back of the Dajue Temple, and this tower was then used to enshrine his bones. This pagoda is about 10 meters high and is white throughout. It has been mostly peeled off due to age, revealing the gray bricks inside. The whole tower features a beautiful and proportional shape. The tower is surrounded by pines and cypresses, forming one of Dajue Temple's "eight wonders", the "pines and cypresses embracing the tower".

04. Vajra Longevity Pagoda of Tanzhe Temple

Tanzhe Temple has a vajra longevity tower, which is a white masonry tower built between the Yuan Tong Hall and the Dizang Hall. Built in the second year of the Zhengtong era (1437) during the Ming Dynasty, this tower was funded by King Zhu Yanyong and is the only existing ancient tower in Tanzhe Temple. There are ancient pine trees on each side of the tower, forming a landscape of Tanzhe Temple, named: "two phoenix dancing with a tower".

05. White Pagoda of Miaofeng Mountain

Miaofeng Mountain Scenic Area has a beautiful landscape and unique natural scenery that attracts a large number of tourists. When visiting the Miaofeng Mountain Niangniang Temple, tourists will see a tall mantle-shaped white pagoda in the open field in front of the Huiji Ancestral Shrine in the temple. It is white and beautifully carved, and stands out against the red walls of the green hills. The base of the pagoda is a square stone pagoda base, carved with the pattern of seawater and river cliffs. There are a group of "two dragons playing pearls" on each of the four sides. Located at the top of Miaofeng Golden Peak, the pagoda faces deep ravines on three sides and has a wide view, making it an ideal place to enjoy the scenery from afar. On a sunny day, you can clearly see the mirror-like water of the Sanjiadian sluice gate and the tall buildings of Shijingshan District.
