The purple magnolia behind the hall of Leshou Hall, and the white magnolia at the east gate of the Long Corridor and the south side of the Moon Greeting Gate were planted by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty during the construction of Qingyi Garden. The flowers have a history of more than 200 years. In 2018, the "Ancient Magnolia" was also named one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Trees in Beijing". The Empress Dowager Cixi was a lover of flowers and had planted magnolia trees all over the courtyard. When the flowers bloom, there is a "sea of fragrant snow". The magnolias here show the charm of the ancient capital and add a cultural atmosphere.
