Northeast China food is the general name of cuisine from Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning Provinces in northeastern China (also Dongbei Area). It is not among the famous 8 Chinese Cuisines, but has its own distinctive flavors. Compared with Hunan Cuisine and Sichuan Cuisine which are famous for their hot and spicy flavor, Northeast China food (Dongbei food) is easier to be accepted by Shanghai locals and tourists. Specialties: As one of a popular Dongbei restaurants in Shanghai, it is decorated into exaggerated red and green, serves Dongbei dishes such as Di San Xi'an (a dish with fried potatoes, green pepper and eggplant) and Da La Pi (tossed mung clear noodles in sauce). The waiters sometimes perform the special Northeast China opera - Er Ren Zhuan for their customers.
