Liuding Mountain Scenic Area is located in the southern suburbs of Dunhua, a county-level city of Yanbian Korean Nationality Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province. On the top of the mountain sits a giant Buddha, which is regarded as the landmark attraction in Liuding Mountain Scenic Area. Other main attractions are the Buddhist Culture Center, Zhengjue Temple, Jade Buddha Hall, the Ancestral Hall of Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) and the Ancient Tombs of the Bohai Regime.

Giant Buddha
The Giant Buddha on Liuding Mountain is comparable to the Big Buddha in Hong Kong. They sit respectively in north and south China, blessing this land and its people. Taking the lotus flower seat into account, the Giant Buddha statue is 48 meters (157 feet) high. It is regarded as the highest outdoor bronze sitting Buddha in the world. The number '48' marks the birthday of Sakyamuni. It's said that Sakyamuni was born on April 8 according to Chinese lunar calendar. The giant Buddha statue is made of 1,046 pieces of bronze sheets that weigh nearly 500 tons. No matter where you stand under the Buddha, you will feel that the Buddha is watching you. Perhaps that’s why people are in awe of the Buddha.

Inside the lotus flower seat is the Buddhist Culture Center.

Buddhist Culture Center
On the first floor of the Buddhist Culture Center is the Ten Thousand Buddha Hall, which houses 9,999 small Buddhist statues that were molded in the same furnace with the Giant Buddha. Counting the Giant Buddha, there are 10,000 Buddhist statues altogether, hence the name. The Buddhist Culture Center has four entrances. Each entrance is guarded by six statues of Buddhist deities. In total, there are 24 Buddhist statues, representing the twenty-four devas in Buddhism. On the second floor is the Reception Hall, where the statue of Vairocana Buddha is worshipped.

Ancient Tombs of the Bohai Regime
Dae Jo-yeong, the leader of Sumo Mohe people (an ancient nationality in northeast China), founded the Jin State in Dunhua in the year of 698. Later, he was conferred as the King of the Bohai Regime by Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty (618 – 907). The ancient tombs on Liuding Mountain were owned by the early royal families and aristocracies of the Bohai Regime. Today, visitors can see more than 100 tombs of the Bohai Regime on the mountain. The most precious relics are the stone lion and tombstone excavated from Princess Zhenhui's tomb.

Zhengjue Temple
Originally, the Zhengjue Temple was built during the reign of Emperor Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. It was rebuilt in 1992 under the leadership of Shi Foxing, who was the then abbot of this temple. Covering nearly an area of 25 hectares (62 acres), the temple is presently the largest shrine for Buddhist nuns in the world. It is divided into three areas, the Buddhist halls, the living area and the Buddhist Academy. In addition, it has a branch temple in the New York City.

Jade Buddha Hall
Situated on the southern bank of Holy Lotus Pool, Jade Buddha Hall is a three-floor hall with a stupa on the top. On the first floor is the Jade Buddha Hall. On the second floor is the Ten Thousand Buddha Pavilion. It has 10,080 Buddhist shrines that house 10,080 Buddhas made of Burmese jade. On the third floor is the stupa for worshipping the Buddha’s relics. Surrounded by the white guard rails decorated with 18 big lotus flowers, the gourd shaped stupa has 18 small Buddhist bells on its top and 108 golden small lotus flowers around the middle section.

Ancestral Hall of the Qing Dynasty
Dunhua is regarded as the birth place of Qing royal families. Legend has it that Bukūri Yongšon was born and founded the first Manchu regime in Dunhua. Therefore, Bukūri Yongšon was regarded as the earliest founder of the Qing Dynasty. Based on this legend, the Ancestral Hall of Qing Dynasty was constructed here. It includes the ancestral hall, the hall of fairies and the exhibition hall of Qing ancestors. Visitors can also learn about Shaman culture, especially the Shaman worship ceremonies.
