Yongding, Fujian is a municipal district under the jurisdiction of Longyan. It lies in the southwest of Fujian Province. As one of the most important settlements for Hakka people, Yongding, China, is the origin and core distribution area of Fujian Tulou. Also, it is one of the eight hometowns of overseas Chinese in Fujian Province. Yongding is rich in geothermal resources and ranks first in Longyan City. In 2013, it was awarded the title of “Top 100 Tourism Counties in China”.

Zhencheng Earth Building, also known as Hongkeng Tulou Cluster, located in Hongkeng Village, is the most splendid Hakka Earth Building. It is a representative in Yonding and praised as “The Prince of Hakka earth buildings”.
Chengqi Earth Building (Gaobei Tulou Cluster), located in Gaotou Village, is known as “The King Hakka earth buildings” with the largest number of laps and the largest resident population.
Jiqing Earth Building is the earliest existing round earth building with the most stairs. It was built on the hillside which formed a magnificent landscape with the terraced field.
Longhu Lake
It is the second largest artificial lake in Fujian Province. This lake is surrounded by green hills. There are dozens of small islands in the lake. With well-equipped facilities, travelers can not only go sightseeing by taking boats, but also enjoy the perfect services there.
Donghua Mountain
This is a good choice for tourists to relax and get closer to nature. It is always rainy and foggy, which makes it a famous summer resort in Fujian Province.

The best time to visit Yongding is autumn and early winter, from September to December. The climate in Yongding belongs to the mid-subtropical maritime monsoon climate. It is moist and mild. Summer from June to September is long but not hot and winter from December to February is short and not cold. The average annual temperature is 20.1 °C (68.18 ℉), the average temperature in January is 11.3 °C (52.34 ℉), and the average temperature in July is 27.5 °C (81.5 ℉). Rainfall is concentrated from March to September every year and most in June.

Yongding is about 400 kilometers (248.5 miles) from the capital city of Fujian Province, Fuzhou, China, and 207 kilometers (128.6 miles) from Xiamen. There is no direct train from Fuzhou to Yongding, so you can choose to transfer in Xiamen, Longyan or Huizhou. Of course, you can take a flight to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, and then take the airport bus line to the coach station to take a regular bus to Yongding. There are also direct buses from Xiamen Fanghu Bus Station at 6:40, 8:30, 13:00 and Xinglin Bus Station at 8:50 and 13:20 to the main earth buildings, taking about 3 hours.
In the city, there is no metro. But the buses and taxies are very convenient for travelers. The taxies charges CNY 6 for the first 1.6 km and CNY 2/ km for subsequent distance. Many buses from Yongding Bus Station to various Earth Building Scenic Areas. The bus ticket fare varies from CNY10-20 according your destination. You can also choose to hire a car to the scattered earth buildings, and generally the total cost is CNY400-500/day.
