Currently there are 120 docks and berths in entirety, with 18 of them being deepwater berths of more than 10,000 tons in tonnage capacities. There is a passenger transportation service supplied in the Mawei Harbor District. On weekdays and Sundays, there is a shuttle liner daily between Mawei and Matsu (in the northwest of the Taiwan Strait). During the Spring Festival, there may be three liners daily.

The Min River sea route of this city is from Nanping to Mawei, the passenger liners of Mawei harbor can bring you to Mt. Putuo, Ningbo etc. Out of the east estuary of the Min River, tourists can get a passage to the main ports of the Yangtze River, north to Shanghai and Qinhuangdao, south to Xiamen and Hong Kong and east to Keelung in Taiwan.
