Lemon Production Area with Numerous Stone Statues
Situated in the center of Sichuan Province, Ziyang borders Chengdu and Deyang to the north, Chongqing and Suining to the east and Meishan to the west. Ziyang is 87 kilometers (54 miles) southeast of the provincial capital, Chengdu and a little over 200 kilometers (about 124 miles) southwest of Chongqing. It is one of the five main lemon producing areas in the world. The planting scale, output and market share all account for more than 80% of China.
This city is also rich in cultural relics. There are more than 100,000 stone statues of Buddhism and Taoism with different shapes and styles from the Southern and Northern Dynasties (420 - 589) to the Qing Dynasty (1636 - 1912), which are of high appreciation value. In addition, Ziyang offers many natural attractions such as Sancha Lake and Wufengsha Forest Park for leisure and relaxation.

Sancha Lake: Situated in southwest Jianyang City, it is formed by the local reservoir. This man-made boasts the most islands of any lake in Sichuan province.
Anyue Grotto: The grotto is home to a unique collection of hand-carved Buddhist and Taoist statues. These historical relics were carved during the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907)

How to Get to Ziyang
Ziyang's transportation network is outstanding due to its geographic location. Major expressways including Chengdu-Chongqing, Guangzhou and Xiamen to Chengdu and Shanghai-Lhasa pass through the city. Convenient rail travel is available on the Chengdu-Chongqing railway. By automobile, Chengdu is about an hour away and Jianyang is about a forty-minute drive.

Weather
While Ziyang weather avoids extremes, it still has four definitive seasons. Summers are warm but the heat is not oppressive. While winters can be chilly, snow is a rarity. January and August are the coldest and hottest months, with annual average temperatures of 6.5 and 26.5 respectively.
Ziyang Travel Tips
History: Archaeological digs in 1951 unearthed the Ziyang Man fossil. This finding proved that human settlers occupied this area about thirty-five thousand years ago. A county-level administrative organization was established in 135 B.C. during the Han Dynasty (206 B.B. – 220 A.D.). The city gained its name for its location north of the Zishui River (the present Tuojiang River).
Physical Features: The city lies in the center of the Sichuan Basin with higher terrain in the west and lower terrain in the east. Its topography is ninety percent hilly and ten percent alluvial plain. The Tuojiang River flows southeast through the city.
Special Local Products: lemons, peanuts, mandarin oranges, Linjiangsi bean sauce, and bamboo articles from Anyue County.
