At present, there is no airport in Leshan City, Sichuan Province. However, railways, highways and waterways have formed a strong transportation network. In the area the main transportation method is by highway.

Air

At present there is no airport in the city. Visitors can fly in to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport which is 150 kilometers (about 93 miles) away from Leshan City. Take a long-distance bus from Central Bus Station to New South Gate Bus Station in Chengdu and the coach in this station will drive visitors to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

Train

There are two railway stations in the town: Leshan Railway Station and North Railway Station. The former one for intercity high speed trains, including Chengdu-Leshan-Emeishan Intercity High-Speed Train; the second one for ordinary trains. If you are heading for Mount Emei, you should get off at Emeishan Railway Station. The famous Jiayang Steam Train is also running within Leshan's territory.

Ship

Leshan Port is located to the east of the city and can be reached by city bus Nos.4, 9, 12. There are regular ferries from the port to Giant Buddha and Wuyou Temple. Visitors can also take ships to Chongqing and other cities in Sichuan Province like Yibin, Luzhou, etc.

There are many ferry services from this port to Giant Buddha Scenic Area each day. The fare is CNY2 per person for a one-way trip. If you want to see the Giant Buddha scenic spot also by ship, the fare is CNY30 per person.

Long-distance Bus

In the city there are three main long-distance bus stations: one is Central Bus Station also called Xiaoba Bus Station, the second is Leshan Port Sight-seeing Bus Station, and the third is Lianyun Bus Station. Of these the Central Bus Station is the busiest. Here are some details:

Central Bus Station

Address: No.165 Jiading Road (Middle), Shizhong District

Getting there: Take bus No.6, 9 to arrive.

Destination: Chongqing, Meishan, Zigong, Jiuzhaigou, Luzhou, Mianyang, Ya'an, etc.

The form below offers some information on the buses departing from Central Bus Station mostly to cities and counties in Sichuan Province:

Leshan Port Sight-seeing Bus Station

Address: located in the city center

Destination: New South Gate Bus Station (Chengdu), Mt. Emeishan, Shawan, etc.

Lianyun Bus Station (Chengbei Bus Station)

Address: located in the north of the city

Getting there: Take bus No.1 to arrive.

Destination: Jianwei County, Luocheng Town, Ebian County, etc.

In addition, there are other special tourist bus routes: Central Bus Station - Emeishan City; Central Bus Station - Shawan; Leshan Port Sight-seeing Bus Station - Bishan Lake; Leshan Port Sight-seeing Bus Station - Foguang Lake; Leshan Port Sight-seeing Bus Station - Giant Buddha - Wuyou Temple.

Although the city bus lines are limited, it is easy to reach many main streets in the city by bus. There are a total of 8 bus lines. Details below:
