29km (18mi) to the west of the city center, the Chengdu Teddy Bear Museum is the largest  of its kind in the world, with  an area of one hectare (2.5 acres). Over 1,000 teddy bears are collected here, composing a wonderful fairy tale world. There are three floors in the museum. You are suggested to start the visit on the second floor, which contains the China Hall, the History Museum and another three halls; then the first floor with six exhibition halls; and at last the basement, with a teddy bear store, a color space and a 3D theatre.

The Second Floor
The second floor of the  Museum includes the China Hall, the History Museum, the New Seven Wonders of the World, the Arts Bears, and the Sea World. Teddy bears travel through all the halls.

The China Hall: In this hall lots of scenes from ancient Chinese stories are re-created by those lovely teddy bears, such as 'Classic of Mountains and Seas', 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms' and 'Journey to the West'. In the scenes of 'Journey to the West', teddy bears are wearing the costumes of many characters. One bear is pushed under the mountain in Sun Wukong's (Monkey King') clothes; one is leading Longma in Xuanzang's (Tripitaka'); one is holding a rake  as ZhuBaijie. Apart from those interesting stories, the scene of building the local Dujiangyan Irrigation System is also shown in this hall. The teddy bears become those workers, some carrying stones, some hammering, and some giving orders.

The History Museum: Many copies of  limited teddy bear editions and the history of teddy bears are shown in the Chengdu Teddy Bear Museum. Teddy Black, one of the limited teddy bears in memory of the sinking of Titanic, is a black bear with a sad expression.

Apart from teddy bears, a statue of former American President Roosevelt is shown. There is a warm story about the president and teddy bears. In 1902, President Roosevelt went hunting in Mississippi but got nothing in the end. In order to please him, his subordinates tied an injured bear to a tree for the president to shoot. When the president saw the poor bear, he refused to do that and promised not to hunt bears any more. The story was published in a newspaper. Later, a businessman produced a series of toy bears and asked for  permission  to name them Teddy,  the nick name of the president. That is how the history of teddy bears started.

The New Seven Wonders of the World: The seven new wonders of the world are re-created with the participation of teddy bears. Some teddy bear visitors are walking along the Great Wall; some noble teddy bears are watching shows around the Colosseum; some hot teddy bear dancers are enjoying a carnival in Brazil.

The Art Bears: In this hall, teddy bears become classic figures in  famous  paintings. Teddy Bear Vincent Van Gogh, sitting on a bed, looks sad. Teddy Bear Smile copies Mona Lisa's Smile. The Teddy Bear Thinker brings you a different enjoyment…

The First Floor
There are six halls on the first floor of the Chengdu Teddy Bear Museum, including the Sculpture Museum, the Painting Gallery, the Panda Park, Korean Museum, Visual Illusion Space, and Interactional Space. Teddy bears appear in  all six places, sometimes as a statue, sometimes the characters of  famous paintings, and sometimes a partners of pandas.

Basement Floor
The last floor of the Chengdu Teddy Bear Museum is mainly divided into three parts: a teddy bear store, a color space and the 3D theatre. In the store you can buy all kind of teddy bears, but it's a little expensive. The color space offers lots of the classical figures like MJ, Beatles and Superman.
