As one of the famous scenic areas in Mentougou District, Pearl Lake Scenic Area was previously known as Zhuwo Reservoir and is quite popular for the high quality of its mussels. From an aerial view of the whole scenic area, it is clear that it resembles a string of pearls.
Features: When there is no wind at Pearl Lake, visitors can appreciate the beauty of the reflections of the clouds, mountains and green tree in the lake, which is like a paradise. In addition, rowing a boat and some fishing activities are also suggested for visitors to Pearl Lake. The first flyover bridge for a railway anywhere in Asia spans the lake and this beautiful man-made architecture has become another interesting reason for visiting Pearl Lake. Going further along the stream, visitors will see the naturally formed Xinhua Village. There are hundreds of apricot trees growing here naturally. The blossoms of flowers provide a unique view of the village, especially in spring. Due to the natural topography and the beauty of nature, features of many interesting scenic spots are available in Pearl Lake, such as the majestic mountain like Taishan, the steep cliff of Huashan and the serenity of Yandang Gorge. What’s more, other attractions can be seen there, such as the ancient cave temple, ruins of ancient great wall, Goddess Cave as well as the forts of Japanese armies.
