Located 40 kilometers away from the northwest Beijing, Water Pass Great Wall is the eastern section of the Badaling Great Wall, cut off by the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway. Built by Qi Jiguang, a famous general who struggled against the Japanese, it was the site of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty with history over four hundred years.
The Water Pass Great Wall was built in a valley and shaped a huge “V”. In the trough of the “V” is an Arrow Tower. It used to be a river flowing through under it, hence the name Water Pass, or Shuiguan in Chinese. The Great Wall lies in a strategic location and is difficult to access. East from “Chuanzi Yihao”, west to Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, it is famous for peculiarity, dangerousness, steepness and solidness with a total length of 6.8 kilometers.
Located in the middle of Guangou, 72 attractions are dotted along the Great Wall as Tanqin Gorge, Goldfish Pool, Stone Buddha Temple, Camel Stone etc., which provides abundant tourism resources to visitors. The scenery of the great wall is as beautiful as a landscape painting in four seasons, one can appreciate the flowers in full blossom in spring, lush and green tress in summer, full mountain red leaves in autumn and the great wall covered with snow in winter.
