Yunju Temple, meaning the temple where clouds stays, were first constructed at the end of Sui dynasty and beginning of Tang dynasty. It preserves many Buddhism scriptures, classics and precious Buddhist relics. This well-accepted temple enjoys a reputation of “The Giant Temple in Northern China”. People also visit the temple for its peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, a symbol of Buddhism culture.
The thousand-hands-and-thousand-eyes Avalokitesvara Buddha in the Dabei Hall is for praying for children-sending. You may find many dolls besides the Avalokitesvara Buddha, which were consecrated by the prayers after their wishes come true. A special “Dolls Warehouse” is even set up besides the Dabei Hall as there were so many consecration dolls. A Buddha Bath Ceremony is held in Yunju Temple on every 8th April in lunar calendar. Miraculously, it had always been raining in Yunju Temple on the ceremony day, even when places around were dry and sunny.
