Improbably located in the basement of shopping mall The Place Shopping Mall, Song Music Bar + Kitchen is an elegant space serving inventive cocktails. Well-heeled Beijingers looking for the funk come here for Brazilian drum n\'bass and tasty nibbles. Designed by owner and sculptor Zhong Song, the club\'s cavernous design of undulating wooden walls uses the acoustic techniques of a concert hall and was inspired by the terraced rice fields of southern China. Pick a booth at the top of the club, which is 20 feet above the dance floor, for a good view of the DJ and the huge projection screen. Song is popular with media and advertising types and the ambience is more sophisticated lounge than dance club. But that doesn\'t stop the suits from kicking back and getting into the rhythm of the night - if you get here late enough.
