Mei Wei Zhai was closed in 1998 because of the expansion of “Liangguanglu”. In 2005, Beijing Xiangda Investment & Management Co. LTD, which was the superior authority of Mei Wei Zhai, rebuilt Mei Wei Zhai at Baiguang Road to restart the time-honored brand. The company also invited senior managers as well as some famous chefs of expertise in Shanghai and Southern China cuisines from Shanghai’s Mei Wei Zhai. On April 26, 2005, Mei Wei Zhai restarted its business and covered 1,200 square meters, including a lobby on the first floor and many private rooms on the second floor. More than 400 people can dine at the restaurant at the same time. Specialties are Hongshao Dudang, oil eel paste, Xiangzao Xiaohuangyu, squirrel-shape mandarin fish, Lao Shanghai-style sautéed shrimp and etc.
